The Fishing Report: Who dat?
This past weekend I was vacationing down in southern Louisiana on a music safari and I just have to comment on a few things fishing and not related. First off, “Y’all” need to know, that the folks down “thata way” are just as nice as anywhere I have ever been. In all of the 700 or so miles we traveled, we didn’t come across one person that wasn’t helpful or had anything less than kind to say. Second the food is rich, plentiful and decadent to a fault and if you’re planning a trip down there, I would highly suggest dieting before you go because any thought of self-control at the dining table will be out of the question.
Farmers Market season opens with abundent crops
Warm temperatures and sunny skies mean that farmers market shoppers are in for a treat: the perfect weather for shopping and, thanks to good growing conditions, a relatively wide variety of produce early in the season.
Opening the books to early literacy

Vital Living
Being a creative, high-strung sort, meditation is something that I have always thought was for others. I have set up little alters with flowers and feathers and incense and a pretty pillow to sit on, purple or deep red being preferable, and tried to call forth a still mind. If anyone was watching I probably looked serene enough while I was planning dinner or wondering if the cost of this little scene could be tax-deductible as a medical expense.
The Fishing Report – A four letter word
All ocean fishermen are the descendants of ancient sailors. That is how fishermen got around, by sail boat. Evolution has produced a fisherman that now uses power to get to and from the fishing grounds, but he is still a sailor at heart. So it comes as no surprise that four letter words dot the vocabulary of most fishermen much as they do today’s sailors. But I don’t think there is a more heinous four letter word in the fisherman’s vocabulary than the word “wind.” And yet to a sailor, that word is their boat life’s blood, a dichotomy for sure.
Earth Day celebrations and volunteer opportunities
Sonoma County residents are set to participate in Earth Day celebrations throughout the area in late April. Officially, Earth Day is designated as April 22 according to the Earth Day Network, the organization responsible for organizing events on a global scale, but many of the festivities in the local area are staged over the course of the month.
