The Fishing Report: Happy New Year
Hard to believe I have been writing this column now for 20 years. Not sure what has really changed but upon reflection I used to write it on a legal yellow pad and handed it in to my editor. So I guess times have changed just a bit. One thing that hasn’t changed, though, is that January is still the best month to chase steelhead. From north to south, I will give you a run down on the current conditions of the rivers and what you might be able to expect. Some rivers are clearing, some are coming into shape, and others might not fish for a while.
Local produce still available despite winter’s chill
For many of us, the New Year comes with the promise to eat healthier, add more fruits and vegetables to our diets and cook more meals. But with the winter weather still with us for several more months, it may seem hard to find the ingredients needed to meet these healthy goals. Fortunately there are a handful of local farmers that are offering fresh bounty year-round.
Wheel of Light: January 2013
After several years of extreme and often painful changes, things seem to be settling down. At least in the sense that no significant planetary changes are going to take place this year. The only outer planet that is changing signs this year is Jupiter when it makes its annual transit into a new sign, entering Cancer on June 25. Otherwise, we will continue to deal with the major transits involving Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.
