Thanksgiving’s Bounty

Since Thanksgiving Day 1621, 401 years later there is much for which to be thankful. When sitting down this Thanksgiving, one should take a moment and imagine being by oneself. Then one can imagine the time and effort required to create each thing one...

Snapshot: Talkin’ turkey—mushrooms

Turkey tail fungus
Talkin’ turkey here. Nope, not Thanksgiving turkey. Turkey tail mushrooms. It’s mushrooming season in Sonoma County. When the weather turns cold and damp, fog rolls in and rain falls, and mushrooms’ fruiting bodies pop up.

No on Measure A

The Sonoma County Growers Alliance (SCGA) has closely studied Measure A, the Sonoma County Cannabis Business Tax, weighing benefits and concerns. Although each has a title, the viewer is invited to use his/her imagination and interpret what the image could convey. Is that one incredibly fresh, green and juicy? Another robust and energetic? And then there’s the one that is simple, quiet and yet provokes a surprising emotional response. Plus, check out the unusual, the mysterious, the elusive, yet elegant and spellbinding. Come, contemplate and enjoy. April 16 – April 28, gallery open week days at 1 p.m.; Saturdays at 11 a.m. Artists reception, Wednesday, April 18, 6 p.m.

‘Angels’ lands at Raven Performing Arts

:Every Sunday matinee we do a post-show discussion with the audience, so they get a chance to make comments and ask questions of the actors. We saw there were a lot of people who were quite moved and quite touched by the play. So the opening weekend could not have gone better, as far as I’m concerned," said director Steven David Martin.
