El Molino junior cross-country sensation Nicole Lane completed a
tremendous fall season on Saturday at the Footlocker Regionals held
at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, California, finishing 10th
overall in the 3.1-mile junior race in a time of 20:27.
Her outstanding finish bettered her time from last year by 35
seconds, and was the 114th fastest in a field of 792 runners in all
divisions. The meet included many of the best high school runners
from Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada,
New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and U.S. citizens in
overseas military installations.
A week earlier Lane made her second straight trip to the CIF
State Cross-Country Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno,
blistering the classic, 5K course in 19:10 to place 19th overall in
Division-4. The great finish represented a 1:29 improvement over
her time last year.
