Tribal gaming in California has truly hit a new milestone with the grand opening of Hard Rock Casino Tejon recently, especially for the Tejon Tribe. Nov. 13 was not just a special day for California, but also for Hard Rock International. Rivaling even Pechanga Resort Casino and Viejas Casino & Resort, this massive, $600 million project stands as one of the biggest entertainment venues yet within the state. However, a second phase of development is still underway, meaning the venue is only going to get bigger from here on out.

However, for Healdsburg’s locals, the almost six-hour drive to Hard Rock can prove daunting, meaning it might not be as easily accessible for this community. Although a quick visit is out of the question, a planned weekend with friends is still a great option. While Hard Rock is still under development, some good, cost-effective alternatives are Bakersfield Inn, Marriott Bakersfield Hotel (for a more upscale option) and Hyatt Place Bakersfield. Otherwise, for those heading there purely for the gambling as opposed to the experience, there are multiple online casinos with $10 minimum deposit. Game selections should be similar to standard casino offerings with slots and classic table games, and live dealer options make for that real casino atmosphere.

Despite the copious amount of online options, there is still reason to make the drive, as the casino is an experience in itself. For one, first-look reviews have detailed that the gaming space spans 150,000 square feet, providing plenty of room for the guests that will no doubt be flocking in. Filling this space are 50-plus table games, including classic titles like Baccarat and Blackjack, alongside an array of other options to choose from. This is without mentioning the 2,000-plus slot machines available for bettors to enjoy some quick gameplay. Moving away from the casino floor, there also are some great dining options to look forward to.

The Hard Rock Cafe and YouYu Asian restaurant, although limited, still provide guests with high-quality meals spanning from deep-cut steaks to delicious seafood. For a wider variety, The Marketplace houses many food stalls, all of which cater to different preferences and palates. There is a selection of Italian cuisines, comfort foods and taco-focused menus, as well as a full-service bar, depending on what visitors are in the mood for. Although the selection is small for the size of the casino, Phase 2 is underway and will bring with it more exciting options to choose from.

To mark the opening day, there was an iconic Guitar Smash Ceremony, which was followed by a notable donation to surrounding charities. This was done in addition to a blessing ceremony, signalling the future success this casino will bring to the Tejon Indian Tribe and Hard Rock International. In fact, a deeper look at Phase 2 reveals plans for a Hard Rock Live venue that will be able to seat up to 2,800 audience members. Even more, the 400-room hotel will also sport a spa and three massive pools for guests to enjoy. The sheer scale of this development has set a new precedent for California casinos and invites residents from the South and the North.
