FORESTVILLE – Analy claimed soccer bragging rights in the first
of two scheduled meetings with El Molino on Sept. 10, easily
dispatching their host, 6-1.
The Tigers had too much depth and fire-power for a Lion’s squad
beset by injuries, as they put constant pressure on the El Mo
defenses all afternoon.
Goal scorers for Analy included Makenna Lujan (2), Angela
Briones, Molly Schuster, Darcy Falvey, and Deanna Molkenbuhr.
Assists went to Rachel Hargrave, Briones, Falvey, and Caina
Field.
Delena Alvarez tallied the lone goal for the Lions, on an assist
from Jene Palmer.
Despite the dominating win, the Tiger brain-trust found plenty
of areas for improvement.
“I don’t think we played our best game, the girls had a bit of
difficulty staying focused, especially because I substituted
liberally,” noted Analy coach Joseph Heil. “My girls are looking
forward to the challenges of this week. I know we’ll be tested with
Petaluma and Casa Grande, and next week with Windsor.”
While Analy was missing a few key players, it doesn’t begin to
describe the injury woes that have beset the Lions.
“I only had two subs against Analy,” said El Mo coach Koos
Fasel. “It will be a struggle this year, but as long as they’re
fighting, we’ll be okay.”
The Tigers (8-0-1, 1-0) will entertain Casa Grande this Friday,
Sept. 17 (time TBA) and visit Windsor next Wednesday, Sept. 22 (5/7
p.m.).
