Ceres deal not complete
Editor: In a recent article by David Abbott (“Sebastopol Town
Hall cover (sic) a variety of issues,” July 29), there is a
paragraph about the incubator project being headed by Kathleen
Shaffer in which the paper states that the Adaptive Building “will
soon be rented out to the Ceres Project, leaving the Entrepreneur
Project homeless.”
That’s not quite accurate. What has happened is that the city of
Sebastopol approached us to see if we were interested in leasing
this building. We have been in conversation with the city for the
past two months but do not yet have a memoradum of understanding
about a potential lease agreement. If Ceres does lease the
building, we will be investing a considerable amount of resources
(that the city does not have) in a major remodel and upgrade of the
building and grounds. Our intention is to make a large meeting room
and the commercial kitchen in the building available for use by the
city as well as others with the goal of collaboratively providing
benefit to the city and all of us who live here.
Please feel free to call me or talk with city manager Jack
Griffin if you would like more information about Ceres Community
Project’s potential use of the Adaptive Building.

Truth that is power.
Editor: To correct the record: I said, all hope is lost unless
Sebastopol, and I could be “ultra-progressive”; as just being
“progressive” is not enough.
I’d like to re-brand that “super-Progressive!”
As I’m on my campaign’s listening tour, I’d like to know what
the majority thinks.
I love my children, Sebastopol and my country deeply. I want to
protect them, especially when I sense trouble.
I heard the U.S. Senator from my home state, Lindsey Graham
(R-SC), discussing the Afghanistan “war”. He admits to being
worried the most about “an unholy alliance” between Conservatives
and Liberals to de-fund the war.
I’d like us all to know what church Mr. Graham goes to.
This “unholy alliance” is called, Democracy; something not
practiced in the House or Senate since the first time they used the
military without a declaration of war; each time since.
We’ve reached un-declared WWIII without a tax to pay for it;
want that on the next ballot?
The failure of our Federal “Representatives” to manage the
budget to reflect City Care, not “WAR” Fare, requires our action,
until our values are represented.
Becoming a candidate for peace, each of us has the opportunity
to be the power, not just speak to it. I encourage ya’ll to run for
any office; uphold the oath to protect and defend the Constitution,
every legal way possible.
Can Sebastopol develop smart Democracy for our greater good —
healthy: mind/body/spirit; accountable land use; thriving local:
economy/environment/education/public safety systems; while still
keeping Sebastopol’s budget balanced?
Here, there is more to life than just existing; we strive to
continuously re-examine what it means to exist well; reflective of
a balance with all.
I respect that; it would be an honor to represent these values
on the City Council of, and for Sebastopol.
