Local Little League baseball teams enjoyed their share of
success in District-35 all-star tournaments last week.
Leading the charge for the West County were the Sebastopol
Minor, Major and Junior all-stars, who each won their respective
Area tournaments. The teams advanced to play in their District
Final tourneys this week. 
In addition, the El Molino Senior all-stars went 1-1 in a pair
of games played last week to remain alive in the District Final
tourney hosted by Petaluma.
Below are partial results for West County teams.  Note:
tournament results for all local teams were not available.
Sebastopol Major 11/12   
The Major stars opened the District-35 West Area tourney at
Polly Field with a 14-0 shellacking of Healdsburg on July 5. The
team went on to defeat Cloverdale 14-8 to set up a rematch with
Healdsburg for the West Area title.  The game did not disappoint,
as Sebastopol pulled out a nail-biter to win 8-7. 
The win advanced the team to the District-35 Final tourney in
Petaluma, where they opened on July 11 with a 5-2 win over Fort
Bragg. On July 13, Sebastopol suffered a 20-1 loss to Petaluma
National, and at press time was preparing for a rematch with the
Petalumans in the July 14 title game. Look for results next
week.   
The Major squad is led by manager Steve Sanchez and coaches Eric
Nogleberg and Russ Taylor. The roster includes players: Noah
Yaylian, Trent Ackerman, Tyson Adviento, Grant St. Martin, Jacob
Colbert, Jordan Taylor, Scott Hoffman, Blake Nogleberg, Vicente
Carreras, Jacob Brady, Jacob Royer, Logan Silverman, and Connor
Sanchez.   
Sebastopol Juniors 13/14
The Junior all-stars hosted the North Area tournament at Laguna
Park last week, running the table with wins over Healdsburg, 7-4
and 9-2. The El Mo juniors dropped a pair of games to Healdsburg,
15-13 and 15-5.  Sebastopol is hosting the District Finals this
week.
Sebastopol Minors  9/10
With their backs to the wall, the Minor 9/10 stars captured the
District-35 West Area tournament.  Sebastopol opened up with a 9-4
loss to El Molino, but reeled off wins over Cloverdale (10-4),
Healdsburg (14-4), and El Molino, (13-3 and 8-3).  After beating
North Ukiah 8-6 in District final opener, the dream ended with an
8-0 loss to Santa Rosa American.
El Molino Seniors 15/16
The El Mo Senior squad opened the District-35 Final tourney in
Petaluma on July 10 with a 6-3 win over Rincon Valley.  Top hitters
for El Molino included: Matt Freeman (2 for 3), Ben Rhoades (2 for
4), Casey Fiddler (1 for 2), Jordan Nordby (1 for 4), and Michael
Castellino (1 for 4). Fiddler was the winning pitcher, fanning 10
batters.
El Mo was back in action the following day against Petaluma,
falling to the hosts 5-3. Leading the hit-squad were: Nordby (2 for
3, 2B), Vince Fuesz (1 for 2), and Castellino (1 for 2). Freeman
took the loss for the locals. 
The team is led by manager Scott Fiddler and coach Vaughn
Rhodes. Other players on the squad are: Toree Smith, Brian Berndt,
Aaron Berndt, Dallas Packard, and Mike Bradford. 
At press time, El Molino was set to face Healdsburg in the
tournament semi-finals on July 14.
