A Meaningful Plan
The Healdsburg City Council is poised to adopt a resolution next week that has a lot of, well, potential. The resolution “acknowledging and embracing the community’s diversity; and expressing the city’s commitment to non-discrimination and inclusivity,” has the potential to bring Healdsburg residents together in strength and in solidarity.
It’s not too late
We are on the dawn of the Nov. 4 elections, but even if they were still many weeks away, it would still be too late to vote. Anyway, polling booths are very public places and the danger of catching Ebola could be very high. Plus, random “lone wolf” terrorists are probably lying in wait.
Commentary: Living on the front lines of the climate emergency
It’s been a couple of decades since we started hearing about how climate change would impact the planet and hence, the creatures living on it. Ice would melt, seas would rise and extreme weather would get more extreme: hotter, colder, windier, wetter, dryer.

A festival of love at local film center
While some 17 films and three “surprise screenings” are spread out over the four-day festival, that obscure majority is outweighed in impact by four classic love stories, including 'Roman Holiday,' 'The Birdcage,' 'Umbrellas of Cherbourg' and none other than Nick Cage and Cher in 'Moonstruck.'
