Cityscape

At the beginning of each fiscal year, which runs from July 1 – June 30, the Healdsburg City Council sets goals for the city of Healdsburg. These goals create a roadmap for the city and are regularly reviewed throughout the year to ensure we are on target.

Let’s go big

This month, almost 50,000 Sonoma County households will receive the first of six monthly $300 federal child support checks. Democrats and all Republicans in both the Senate and House of Representatives approved these stimulus checks unanimously. Last week, similar unanimous votes were taken in both chambers of the California legislature, approving the dispersal of one-time $600 stimulus checks to most households. The city council of Santa Rosa is considering a form of a guaranteed income to eligible households and many other local and state governments are considering similar guaranteed income programs. All this would be a radical departure from past decades of government economic policy.

Someday we’ll laugh about this . . . right? In a heartbeat

A week ago my dad came to Windsor for a quick visit. I had asked him to help me get some glasses for the computer, and instead of mailing back the glasses, he decided to bring them to me. We didn’t do anything special—just hung out, ordered some Chinese food from Yinking, and then had breakfast the next morning at Omelette Express as he was leaving town to head back up to Magalia.

But I Digress: What’s new with you?

Everyone gets so excited about a new year, but really is all that pep, vigor and exhilaration (I got a new thesaurus for Christmas!) justified?
