Lucas Chung takes second in exciting effort
The Windsor cross-country team turned in a strong performance at the North Bay League Championships on Nov. 10, the final meet of an abbreviated NBL season.
The meet was contested on a slick 3.05-mile course at Spring Lake in Santa Rosa, a hilly and challenging venue that was even more treacherous due to a light rain. At stake were NBL team and individual titles.
Leading the charge for the Windsor boys was junior standout Lucas Chung, who staged an exciting duel with Maria Carrillo’s Ben Lawson. Chung finished just behind Lawson for second place in a sizzling 15:41.
Leading the way for the varsity girls was sophomore Erin O’Mara, who negotiated the wet course in 19th place in a fast 20:48.
Next up for the Running Jags are the North Coast Section Championships in Hayward this Saturday, Nov. 18.
