Local high school runners will test mind and body this Friday, Sept. 8 as they open the fall cross country season in the annual Rancho Cotate Invitational Meet in Rohnert Park.  The first race is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

It was a mixed bag on the high school preseason hoops circuit for Cloverdale teams, with the Lady Eagles advancing to their second straight tournament final in Orland while the boys fell to Healdsburg in abbreviated action.

West County high school runners put the final wraps on the fall cross country campaign on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the North Coast Section Championships.

It’s been years since the El Molino boys soccer team posted a winning record, but all signs are pointing in the right direction for the Lions this year. Head coach Dave Rosales is back after guiding the team to a 4-11-2 overall record last season, but with nine varsity returnees, the Lions are a good bet to double that win mark this year.

The Analy cross country team continued to prep for the upcoming league season in a four-way meet held on the classic, 3.05-mile Spring Lake course on Sept. 18, testing their fitness against Windsor, Sonoma Valley and Piner.

Fast times and outstanding performances were the rule at the inaugural North Bay League Track & Field Championships on May 1 and 3, as Analy and El Molino teams combined to qualify some two dozen athletes to the upcoming North Coast Section Redwood Empire Qualifier (NCS REQ) meet.
