Jaguars garner winter all league honors

A successful winter sports campaign was validated for 31 Windsor High School athletes, garnering all North Bay League recognition in basketball, soccer and wrestling as voted on by coaches.

The Windsor girls wrestling team continued to make its presence felt on the preseason tournament circuit, boasting four medalists en route to a 12th place team finish at the Folsom Invitational Tournament on Nov. 30.

Day at the Races

Winning ride — The Town of Windsor and the city of Healdsburg joined forces with the city of Cotati to be recognized in the third race on the opening day of Wine Country Racing at the Sonoma County Fair, a one-mile on the dirt starter allowance race for 3-year-olds and up. The winner was Giant Mark, owned by Johnny Taboada , trained by Samual Calvario, and ridden by Catalino Martinez. The 7-year-old gelded son of Benchmark out of the Giant’s Causeway daughter Everything Good won easily, galloping home several lengths in front of second placed Candy’s Martini and third-placed Jason X L in a time of 1:38.17. Last weekend all 25 Our Lady of Guadalupe teams returned to the hardwood after the Christmas break. This week’s Game of the Week was a nail biter in fifth grade boys North Bay Catholic Youth Organization play. OLG’s furious comeback came up one point short in the 24-23 loss to St. Sebastian of Sebastopol.
