Team will compete in Coastal Mountain Championships Nov. 22

Eagles close out league campaign vs. St. Helena on Friday

With the surprise addition of 10 new freshmen runners, the Healdsburg Hounds hope to boost their chances to make league cross country champs. And although that might depend on the good health of their veteran runners, one can’t deny the fresh energy these freshmen bring to the team.

The Cloverdale High School baseball and softball teams are alive and well this week, as they near the end of their respective league schedules, each approaching the finish line with an eye toward the postseason.

Healdsburg’s narrow path to an NBL Redwood baseball pennant opened a bit wider Wednesday afternoon. In dramatic fashion, the Greyhounds broke a 7-inning scoreless game on a two-out error by the Montgomery shortstop that allowed Tyler Swanson to score from second in the top of the eight inning.

Leading the pack is junior Meher Dhiman, who “graduated” from the No. 2 slot to be the team’s No. 1 player this year, and also serves as team captain. She has had several successful matches so far this year in the team’s eight outings, which included a collective 7-0 sweep of Piner on Sept. 10...

Local soccer fans have been thrilled to witness a series of strong games from the girls team at the tail end of 2024. From the opening game against St. Helena on Nov. 14 through last Friday’s match against Gateway in San Francisco, the Greyhounds have run up an impressive nine wins in a row without a defeat...

The Healdsburg Lady Greyhounds are on a 10-game winning streak, while the Rio Lindo Adventist Lady Spartans are on a roll with an 11-3 season record and 5-0 in the Small School Bridge league.

Grapplers of the North Coast Section met for the first time earlier this month in the remodeled former Frost Gym, soon to be officially christened Drew Esquivel Hall. This year’s wrestlers are for the most part, if not entirely, first- and second-year wrestlers, and coach Scott Weidemier is careful to give them the kind of exposure that will grow their skills and enthusiasm for the sport instead of frustrate them...

All-League selections for North Bay – Redwood division have been announced, and other divisions as well. The Healdsburg High winter sports teams can be proud of their showing in this post-season list, selected by the coaches of the league teams themselves.
