Healdsburg’s narrow path to an NBL Redwood baseball pennant opened a bit wider Wednesday afternoon. In dramatic fashion, the Greyhounds broke a 7-inning scoreless game on a two-out error by the Montgomery shortstop that allowed Tyler Swanson to score from second in the top of the eight inning.

Healdsburg ball fans should know that baseball and softball North Bay League championship games, for both the Oak and Redwood divisions, will be played here in town on Friday, May 10. Baseball will be hosted at Rec Park at 3:30pm (Redwood) and 6:30 (Oak). Softball games are played at the HHS varsity field (University and Monte Vista), Oak at 4:30 and Redwood at 7pm...

There’s certainly talent on the Healdsburg varsity baseball team, and hustle and confidence. Though their record this season is a modest 11-11, 4-7 in the North Bay Redwood league, their scorecard is overflowing with big-run victories over like-sized opponents, those in Division 4.

Healdsburg High School students had the week off for spring break, and while that slowed down the sports calendar for the time being, things should pick up next week, as games stack up two and three times a week into May.
