Shakespeare Plays On
Much Ado About Nothing, one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies, continues its run on stage at Bacchus Landing. Directed by Steven David Martin and staged by the Raven Players, it’s a tale of love and villainy with a happy ending. Performances most Thursdays-Saturdays until Aug. 7. History Talks
This Saturday morning from 10-11:30am, hear museum docent Susan Sheehy and Director Holly Hoods talk about two historic communities nearby, the mercury mining town of Pine Flat and the utopian experiment in Preston, near Cloverdale. Free lectures at the Gazebo in the Healdsburg Plaza every Saturday through Aug. 29.
Painting in Fauve
This month’s exhibit at the Upstairs Art Gallery features a collection of oil and acrylic paintings by Willow LaLand, along with the Staircase Smallworks showcase featuring Gen Zorich’s ‘Summertime’ exhibit. Meet the artists on Saturday, 3-6pm at the gallery, 306 Center St.
Spirit Bar Saturday

Opening Night
Cloverdale Performing Arts Center begins its three-weekend run of The Cottage, a play by Sandy Rustin. “With a tip of the hat to Noël Coward and sex comedies of the past,” says director Robert Zelenka, “The Cottage offers a perfect showcase for six actors with endless laughs, hilarious twists, daring physical comedy and a happy ending for lovers everywhere.” Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm, Aug. 1-16. The City’s Sundays on the Plaza schedule presents largely acoustic music to provide background for family or visitors in the heart of Healdsburg. This week hear groovy jazz from Nate Lopez, a frequent in-town solo musician, from 1-3pm.
