The Analy volleyball squad wrote a new chapter in the Sonoma
County League history books last week, defeating Windsor and Casa
Grande to secure their seventh straight SCL championship.
The victories were both achieved in three games, and the Oct. 21
win over second place Casa Grande guaranteed Analy the league title
outright.
The Tigers opened the week with a decisive victory over the
Jaguars; 25-16, 25-15, and 25-17. Leading the offensive attack were
Claire Sullivan (10 kills), and Courtney Covey (8 kills).
Two nights later, the Tigers took care of second place Casa
Grande; 25-20, 25-23, and 25-23. Turing in outstanding efforts were
Megan Winters (14 digs), Sullivan (9 kills), and Briana Adviento (7
kills).
At press time, the Tigers (10-0, 16-8) held a three-match edge
over second-place Casa Grande, with remaining matches at Petaluma
(Oct. 26), and home against Sonoma (Oct. 28, Senior Night) standing
in their way of an unbeaten regular season.
“It feels great having won a seventh consecutive league title,”
said Analy coach Nancy Williams. “This team has not had it easy
this year in terms of being 100-percent the majority of the season
due to injuries and illnesses.  Everybody has had to step in and
pick it up for their teammates. This has been a complete and total
team effort,” she added.
Next week, Analy will be the number one seed in the SCL playoff
tournament which features the top four teams. The Tigers will host
the fourth seed in the SCL playoff tournament opener next Tuesday,
Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. The North Coast Section Division-three playoffs
loom the following week.
