Much has been written about the awarding of culinary stars, ratings of 90-point wines and the ascendancy of the million-dollar, two-bedroom home. But one award made to a Healdsburg business should not slip through the cracks—the naming of the Healdsburg’s location as North America’s “World Gym of the Year.”

Stay Healdsburg—the hospitality arm of the Chamber of Commerce, funded by a benefit assessment district to promote visits to Healdsburg—announced this month more than $70,000 in sponsorships to 11 local organizations.

The local Flock system is connected to a regional information network, the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), which compares license plate and other vehicle information to see if it produces a “hit” with the wider law enforcement database, as well as to alerts pushed out by neighboring agencies. But how is that information used more widely?

"What happened on Senior Prank Day was deeply disappointing and caused real harm—there’s no denying that," said school counselor Mr. Flores. "But I want to acknowledge something else just as important: the courage and integrity it took for this student’s father, Mr. Clow, to share such a raw and honest reflection with our community."

Jazz will again make itself heard in Healdsburg this June, songwriters will gather in the vineyards in July and Santa will light the Holiday tree—all thanks in part to the Chamber of Commerce’s Stay Healdsburg grants. A total of $95,000 has been granted to 20 local event organizers...

What makes Healdsburg’s market particularly unique is the continued dominance of non-primary residence purchases. In 2024, 61% of all purchases were for second homes or investment properties, with rural properties showing an even higher rate at 76%. This tracks with 2023 when 64% of properties were purchased as non-primary residences, writes a local realtor.

The Raven Players’ offerings begin as soon as Thursday, July 31, with the performance of one of Shakespeare’s earliest plays, "Two Gentlemen of Verona," at the newest Raven venue, Bacchus Landing. While it’s technically not part of the Raven Players’ season, it fits the playbill nonetheless.

The proprietors of BloodRoot Wines, Kelly and Noah Dorrance, have been organizing an annual music and wine festival called The Ramble as a fundraiser benefitting  GIFFORDS, a national organization dedicated to preventing gun violence.

For the second year in a row, a Greyhound won the Most Valuable Pitcher award as Eric Nielsen followed 2024's co-winner Mauro-Manos into the exclusive circle. Nielsen’s finishing record of 10 wins and 83 strikeouts led in the league and placed him among the top 10 high school pitchers statewide.

The Healdsburg Jazz Festival seems as if it must be modeled after a film festival, with multiple venues offering different artists throughout the day. There are the featured events, sure–a Juneteenth Celebration, a Father’s Day Concert, headline shows at Bacchus Landing – but it’s the little gigs that count.
