A sense of place: The legacy of Fitch Mountain
Dressing in my sweats, high-top shoes, hooded jersey and cap, I leave the house to meet the morning cold. As my father would say, “No one is tougher than the weather!” I am going to meet an old friend— wild, steep, dense stands of redwood, oak and madrone— the forested path of the Fitch mountain fire trail. Hiking it brings understanding and awareness of life’s connectedness, of oneness with the Earth.
Growth and housing in Windsor
Are there any solutions to our housing problem? It is very hard for me to find solutions when I struggle to define the problem. First we lack housing for those who, because of a multitude of reasons, are unable to keep a roof over their head, be it lack of funds, lack of employment, a job that doesn't pay enough, mental illness, drug addiction, the list goes on.

A festival of love at local film center
While some 17 films and three “surprise screenings” are spread out over the four-day festival, that obscure majority is outweighed in impact by four classic love stories, including 'Roman Holiday,' 'The Birdcage,' 'Umbrellas of Cherbourg' and none other than Nick Cage and Cher in 'Moonstruck.'
