I recently returned from a week- long preaching conference in Door County, WI. It was a wonderfully relaxing week during which, I hope, I also learned a few things.
A tale of two cities (Santa Rosa and Healdsburg)
I lived in Santa Rosa for 51 years. Since 1986 my wife and I have lived in Healdsburg. I feel the long experience in these two “cities” gives me some perspective to make judgments about our current squabble about what is best for Healdsburg.
Parking meters are a tax
I am a local who has been visiting and shopping downtown since 1990. The current parking dilemma has arisen because of the past political marriage between downtown business and local politicians. In an effort to promote growth and accumulate revenue, Healdsburg has incorporated the in-lieu parking fee concept, which although is good for developers, it has failed the local property owning taxpayer.
