Two special public Zoom meetings on the issues of police use of force and police funding are scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, and Tuesday, June 30.
Construction of SMART Windsor Extension project resuming May 4
According to a statement from Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District (SMART) Construction, work on the Windsor Extension project is slated to resume on Monday, May 4. In compliance with local public health ordinances restricting this type of work due to COVID-19, construction activity was temporarily suspended in early April. As construction work on this project resumes, the field crews and contractors will continue to comply with all public health directives.
Let’s go big
This month, almost 50,000 Sonoma County households will receive the first of six monthly $300 federal child support checks. Democrats and all Republicans in both the Senate and House of Representatives approved these stimulus checks unanimously. Last week, similar unanimous votes were taken in both chambers of the California legislature, approving the dispersal of one-time $600 stimulus checks to most households. The city council of Santa Rosa is considering a form of a guaranteed income to eligible households and many other local and state governments are considering similar guaranteed income programs. All this would be a radical departure from past decades of government economic policy.
Planned and actual development up, but population down in Windsor in 2021
Windsor’s 2021 residential growth report shows development was up in 2021 compared to 2020, but the town’s population fell last year for the second straight year and the town is unlikely to meet its RHNA numbers for the current cycle.
