Windsor MEChA embraces individuality and community work
Some members from Windsor High School Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán (MEChA) said that they had difficulty making friendships and finding peers with similar experiences as theirs before joining. Now, they have embraced helping their community with volunteer work while enhancing their Latinx culture simultaneously.
Local salons adjust to opening with limited capacity

Bodega piers now open for local fishermen
Local recreational fishermen received good news last week when Sonoma County officials authorized the reopening of the Westside Boat Launch, Mason’s Marina and Spud Point Marina in Bodega Bay.
Windsor asks SMART to slow their roll
The affected routes are the three earliest departures from Windsor, headed southbound to Larkspur. Morning departure times scheduled at 4:35, 4:58 and 5:30am will be temporarily discontinued starting Monday, June 23. The first morning departure on weekdays will then become 6:02am. The reason: those damn train horns wake up the residents.
Senior appreciation dinner returns to the Villa Chanticleer on Dec. 5, in person and drive-thru
The highly anticipated senior appreciation dinner is returning this year as an in-person event at the Villa Chanticleer on Dec. 5. Since the dinner was organized as a drive-thru event last year Healdsburg seniors and senior center staff are excited to once again meet in person and break bread together for the popular event.
New Book by Gaye LeBaron tells history of Fountaingrove
Sonoma County’s longtime newspaper columnist and regional historian Gaye LeBaron and co-author, writer Bart Casey have announced the publication of a new history book entitled The Wonder Seekers of Fountaingrove.
Process begins for SMART Station Area Plan
The City of Healdsburg has begun planning for the eventual arrival of SMART, perhaps as soon as the end of 2028. The planning began at Monday’s City Council meeting, when the five-member board heard from Planning Director Scott Duiven about the formation of a Healdsburg Station Area Specific Plan.
Unhappy hour spotlights pay disparity
The Healdsburg AAUW is hosting an “unhappy hour” event on Equal Pay Day, April 2, to highlight the issue of unequal pay between women and men.
