County to shut down reuse store
The county is shutting down the Recycle-town North location at the Healdsburg Transfer Station as of Oct. 31.
Hilberman is new director of the Russian River Valley Winegrowers
In December, the Russian River Valley Winegrowers Association hired marketing and communications professional Wendy Hilberman as its new executive director. Hilberman is now the point person in charge of promoting the area’s wineries and the vast tourism industry of restaurants and hotels that has grown up around them. It’s a big job covering a big area. Home to over 150 wineries, the Russian River Valley AVA stretches from northernmost edge of Petaluma to just north of Healdsburg. (AVA stands for American Viticultural Area, the American version of the French “appellation.”)
Occidental man arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a minor
The Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) arrested Peter Duranceau, 25, of Occidental, on April 15 following an investigation that found Duranceau to be the suspect in a sexual assault case involving a minor, as well as one where he’s suspected of trying to arrange a meeting with a minor with the intent to engage in sexual conduct.
Windsor removed from evacuation warnings
As the Walbridge Fire comes further under control, the one section of the town of Windsor that had been under an evacuation warning has been removed. The Evacuation Warning for Zone A (referred to by the county as Zone WI-A) has been lifted. This zone is north of Windsor River Road to the northern town limit and west of Highway 101 to the western town limit.

WSCUHSD board cuts ties with superintendent
The West Sonoma County Union High School District (WSCUHSD) voted in closed session Wednesday night to remove district Superintendent Toni Beal from her position, effective immediately. Donald Evans, a former superintendent for Berkeley Unified School District, will serve as the district’s short-term superintendent.

Ives Park Calder Creek Naturalization Project to keep ballfield
Calder Creek is getting some wiggle room in the Sebastopol City Council’s concept of choice for the Ives Park Calder Creek Naturalization Project. The plan chosen by the city council spares Polley Field, which would have been one of the casualties of the project if the council had chosen a different plan.
