The Sebastopol City Council is holding a study session on Tuesday, Aug. 11 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. to discuss the possible county purchase of the Sebastopol Inn, located at 6751 Sebastopol Ave., for the state’s Project Homekey program, which is the next step in the state’s homeless response efforts.

LAFCO dissolves the Palm Drive Health Care District

On Wednesday, Aug. 5, the Sonoma Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) voted unanimously to dissolve the Palm Drive Health Care District. LAFCO’s action was recorded with the county the next day. The County of Sonoma, the successor agency for the health care district, now inherits all of the district's assets, liabilities, debts, records and taxing authority.

County adopts COVID compliance ordinance

During their Aug. 6 meeting, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed to adopt an emergency ordinance for the county that would enforce compliance of the state coronavirus health order. The enforcement ordinance is effective immediately and allows the county to issue code citations of $100 to individuals and up to $10,000 for businesses, for those who don’t follow the state’s health order.

West county schools receive $1 million mental health grant

The Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE) announced Thursday that west county schools received a $1 million federal grant for students who are experiencing trauma related to numerous recent natural disasters.
