A West Side Elementary School art project has taken the nation by storm. Since its launch late last month, the delightful Peptoc Hotline project — a hotline you can call to hear words of wisdom and uplifting messages from kindergarteners and grade school students — has caught the attention of countless news outlets, including CNN and NPR, radio stations and even the Drew Barrymore Show.

Council approves concept, future home for ‘Sebastopol Spire’
Local artist Ned Kahn has a clearer path forward for his art piece “Sebastopol Spire,” which is being commissioned by the city of Sebastopol. After going back to the drawing board to find a different site for the piece following a February council meeting, the Sebastopol City Council unanimously approved both the concept and future site location of “Sebastopol Spire” during its meeting on April 20.
School board reviewing reopening, learning continuity plans
The Cloverdale Unified School District Board of Trustees is gathering over Zoom this Wednesday, Sept. 23 for a special board meeting. The special meeting will primarily be covering items that were also up for discussion at the last board meeting — an addendum to the Washington and Jefferson school lease leaseback agreements, discussion and review of the district’s Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan and discussion and review of the district’s school reopening plan — the board will also be discussing athletic conditioning. Fire Safe Occidental aims to empower and protect west county communities
One morning in the fall of 2017, Occidental resident Carolyn Sell woke up to an orange sky and a view of the Santa Rosa valley on fire. Realizing how easily fire could spread west to her community, Sell decided, from her vantage point up in the hills, to make sure Occidental would be ready when disaster came.
