The Legacy of ‘Padre Marvin’
Father MarvinBowers came to Healdsburg in 1972 and started his outreach by making friends with Monsignor Jack O’Hare at St. John’s across the street. Pastor Bill Hayes of the Federated Church (now Healdsburg Community Church) soon joined them, forming a weekly ecumenical lunch which engendered several church-started yet secular community services. He died in April.
CUSD trustees talking wellness, reopening, district property at next meeting
At its next regular meeting on Nov. 18, the Cloverdale Unified School District (CUSD) Board of Trustees will be viewing a presentation about the district’s wellness resources website, receiving a presentation and possibly giving direction related to the undeveloped district property at the south end of Cloverdale and will be revisiting its reopening plan.
Cloverdale’s Cesar Chavez celebration is Friday
La Familia Sana is hosting an event to commemorate the work done by Cesar Chavez and his effort in helping the farmworker community. The celebration will be held on the east side parking lot of Dahlia and Sage Market in Cloverdale on Friday, April 1, from 4 to 7 p.m.
