Community vitality consultant CoMission came away from the April 6 Sebastopol City Council meeting with an approved budget request of $20,000 to fund its work through June 30, with four council members in favor and Councilmember Neysa Hinton absent.
SCOE holding distance learning seminars for teachers
According to a statement from the Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE), more than 300 Sonoma County educators representing 30 of Sonoma County's 40 school districts will prepare for the uncertainty of the 2020-21 school year by expanding their skills in distance instruction during two virtual learning institutes presented by SCOE.Â

The Healdsburg City Council agreed to a new 15-year term contract with Recology for garbage services with a new residential rate of $26.12 for 32-gallon bins at its meeting Monday night, May 18.

SPRING GREENING — Recent warming and longer days have begun to awaken the region's grapevines at a time in mid-March considered "normal" by local growers. Growers now must prepare for early spring frost warnings when too cold nights can do damage to the young green shoots. Most growers utilize overhead sprinklers to coat the buds with a protective ice jacket while others turn on large wind machines to disturb the inversion layer of colder air.
HUSD board gives the green light for ethnic studies course
Starting next year, all Healdsburg High School freshmen will be required to take a one-semester ethnic studies course. The implementation of the course comes after several years of work to address inequality in the school district. Â
