Banners celebrating Cloverdale seniors were put up on the fence of the Cloverdale Citrus Fair Monday morning, June 1. The banners are on the side of the fence that lines North Cloverdale Boulevard, and will be up for the next two weeks.

Healdsburg Elementary and Healdsburg Charter School held its annual Halloween parade this morning. Pirates, superheroes, zombies and firefighters were all in attendance. Healdsburg’s downtown merchants will welcome children from 4 to 6 p.m. today for the annual downtown Halloween trick or treating.

Commentary: Garden revival project gratitude

When I first came to Healdsburg District Hospital in July of 2017, I saw a raised vegetable garden bed outside of the café that desperately needed love. Initially, I considered replacing some of the wood boards but the fixer-upper in me knew the whole structure needed to be rebuilt. It was overgrown with mint, a very prolific and stubborn herb, and low on soil.

City approves $2 million contract for College Street sewer/water project

In a 5-0 vote at its meeting on Aug. 3, the Healdsburg City Council awarded a $2,045,642 construction contract to Argonaut Constructors Inc. for the College Street sewer and water main replacement project. The approved contract allows for a 15% construction contingency if needed.

Children’s book author visits St. John’s School

Children’s book author and illustrator Teri Sloat visited St. John School last week and shared with her young audience how she crafts her stories and illustrations and the importance of living a creative life. In a presentation titled “Falling in Love With Words and Books” Sloat walked the audience through her own creative process, including her origins as a teacher, falling in love with the books she read to her students.
