Woman dies after being struck by a car on Highway 116
Authorities continue to investigate why a female pedestrian tried to cross Highway 116 by foot Wednesday, Nov. 3. when she was fatally hit by a Volvo that swerved in an attempt to steer clear of her.
Despite creeping case numbers, county poised to hit orange tier this week
It was mostly good news this week in the county’s April 5 COVID-19 briefing: vaccination allocations are about to increase, and the county is poised to slip into the orange tier. However, there are still a few points of concern going forward, primarily the slight rise in case rates for the first time in weeks.

A 38-Year-Old (YO) man was cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, driving without a license and lacking proof of insurance. A 47-YO man was cited and released for misuse of license and registration documents, violation of probation, violation of vehicle registration rules, violation of the open container law, and on outstanding Sonoma County warrants regarding driving with a license suspended for driving under the influence (DUI) and driving without a required ignition interlock device...."
Healdsburg’s financials are looking good as TOT tax revenue increases
The City of Healdsburg’s budget is looking good and general fund reserves are expected to hit slightly above the 30% city council-mandated reserve requirement thanks to general fund revenue projections that are exceeding expectations. Unfortunately, the budget outlook isn’t too rosy for the water fund, which is suffering decreases in revenue due to water conservation.
HJH students perform
On Dec. 7, 2012 at the Fitch Mountain Campus, the Healdsburg Junior High Spanish class students performed a dance entitled “Los Machetes” as part of the “Navidad Mexicana” Christmas celebration for the families of both the Spanish speaking and English speaking community. The dance was taught to the students by a community member (Mrs. Yolanda Giron), who was a former dancer for the Ballet Folkloric Dance Group in Oaxaca, Mexico.
