Council receiving presentation about creation of Cloverdale’s wildfire protection plan
The Cloverdale City Council’s first meeting back at the Cloverdale Performing Arts Center will be a small one, with a presentation about the Cloverdale Fire Protection District’s wildfire protection plan and two regular business items, one designating a voting delegate and the other considering the cancellation of the council’s Aug. 25 and Sept. 22 meetings. West County TOT ties the fates of west county emergency services, schools, hotels together
Voters will decide whether to levy an additional 4% transient occupancy tax (TOT) for guests of west county hotels and vacation rentals to increase funding for coastal emergency services and west county schools in a March 2, 2021 election.
Jimenez appointed to mayoral seat, Kelley to serve as vice mayor
Despite going late into the night after a long agenda and a raucous start to the meeting, in the annual reshuffling of the council seats, the Healdsburg City Council selected Vice Mayor Ozzy Jimenez as the new mayor of Healdsburg following a unanimous vote and a nomination by Mayor Evelyn Mitchell. Councilmember Ariel Kelley will serve as the city’s vice mayor.
Armstrong Woods opening postponed
Someday in the summer, nature-lovers may step foot into the Armstrong Woods state park, but they weren’t able to in time for Memorial Day weekend this year, according to Michele Luna, executive director of Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods.
