County chipping program to aid in wildfire prevention gets underway for 2019
Starting May 1 Sonoma County’s Roadside Chipper program is available to property owners in preparation for fire season. This free curbside chipper service supports residents in creating defensible space around their homes and reduces vegetation along access routes.
‘Dancing’ for dollars at successful fundraiser
The Raven Performing Arts Theater held its fifth annual “Dancing with the Stars” fundraiser last weekend, a sold-out event that paired local “stars” with professional dancers. The couples performed two dances during the evening and were judged on dance moves and popularity.

Exhibit: Women who paved the way
The West County Museum is highlighting local trailblazers with its new “Extraordinary Local Women” exhibit. The exhibit includes information about local women who were the first women to do what they did, from the first female Sebastopol mayor to the first Sebastopol Times editor to the first woman to vote in Sonoma County. The exhibit opens on Thursday, Dec. 5, and has a grand opening on Saturday, Dec. 7.
Sebastopol hit with two cyber breaches
The City of Sebastopol announced on July 16 that two unrelated cyber incidents have downed the police department’s computer system and ripped off $1.2 million from the city’s reserves through a “fraudulent email request.”
