SCOE holding distance learning seminars for teachers

According to a statement from the Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE), more than 300 Sonoma County educators representing 30 of Sonoma County's 40 school districts will prepare for the uncertainty of the 2020-21 school year by expanding their skills in distance instruction during two virtual learning institutes presented by SCOE.

Future of fire services

The future of Healdsburg’s fire fighting services could look very different from what we all have become used to over many previous decades. The fire trucks and the siren alarms will be the same and the volunteer and paid emergency and safety teams will likely remain in place. But who is in charge, and how everything gets paid for could change dramatically.

Cloverdale council talking fireworks, Plaza bathroom

The Cloverdale City Council has a small but mighty agenda for its meeting Wednesday night, Jan. 25. The council is slated to discuss its American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) spending plan, consider amending its decision to purchase a Portland Loo restroom for the Plaza and lastly, to review and consider options relating to the sale, possession and use of fireworks in town, including potentially placing a measure to ban fireworks on an upcoming ballot.

Food For Thought’s 19th annual fundraiser goes virtual to help hundreds with COVID-19, HIV, other conditions

Food For Thought’s 19th annual fundraiser is going virtual this year. The Forestville food bank’s funds help bring groceries to the front doorstep of many Sonoma County residents living with HIV, AIDS and now COVID-19, in addition to other serious illnesses. Food For Thought (FFT) provides free healthy meals, vitamins, supplements, nutritional counseling and groceries to over 2,000 clients, according to its website.
