WSCUHSD to consider new CTE courses, discuss proposed state budget
The West Sonoma County Union High School District’s (WSCUHSD) Jan. 19 board meeting is shaping up to show the range of what goes into an educational experience, from finances and budget planning to new courses, mental health services and discussions on skylights and roofing.
Healdsburg’s Public School Success Team (PSST) celebrates its first class of high school graduates
PSST, a volunteer educational nonprofit, began working with these graduates in 2009 when they were fifth graders at Fitch Mountain School. Through tutoring and coaching programs PSST encourages students to continue their education through and beyond high school. Efforts are staffed and supported by community volunteers and donors. Walbridge fire lines holding, lack of resources still an issue
With burning conditions not as severe as seen in nights prior, fire crews have maintained the fire lines of the Walbridge Fire along Sweetwater Springs Road, however, despite a concentrated effort to contain the Stewarts fire burning at the heel of Lake Sonoma near Skaggs Springs Road, it is going to be allowed to burn into Walbridge in order to better allocate resources across the area, according to CalFire Division Chief Ben Nicholls.
Food bank needs help amid increased demand
Since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Redwood Empire Food Bank (REFB) has been providing the equivalent of over 80,000 meals to people in need per day, a 50% increase up from last year, and with the drastic change in demand, the organization says they are in dire need of more funds, food and volunteers.
Granges to hold benefit for fire victims, Oct. 12

Torres enters plea, preliminary hearing set
Moses Torres, 18, who is accused of murdering his brother, Ivan Torres, entered a plea of not guilty at his arraignment on April 10, according to Sonoma County Superior Court and the District Attorney's office.
