I promised myself that I would give the whole gun control issue a bit of a break. I find it depressing in the extreme and it only exacerbates my feeling of helplessness. I broke that promise to myself because a) no matter how I tried my thoughts still carom back to the subject, b) I had my fingers crossed when I made the promise and c) I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get the words ‘exacerbate’ and ‘carom’ in one paragraph.
Record Shop Opening Inside Healdsburg Tasting Room
A new record shop is also opening today in Healdsburg — inside a tasting room, of course. It will be called "Vino & Vinyls." The winery responsible is Montagne Russe, whose tasting room opened a couple of summers ago inside the big Bacchus Landing...
Gallery: Washington students return to campus
Cloverdale’s middle schoolers headed back to Washington School this week. According to the school’s website, fifth, seventh and eighth graders will be attending class in-person on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Sixth-grade students are split up into two cohorts, with one group attending class in person on Mondays and Thursdays and the other attending on Tuesdays and Fridays. All students will be attending class via online instruction on Wednesdays, which will allow time for classrooms to be extensively cleaned.

The Boitano-Grande residence at 206 Piper St. is this year’s winner of the Tribune Holiday Lights Contest. Other festive houses include: 94 West Grant St., 190 Kennedy Lane, and 14984 Grove St.
