On top of last-minute permitting issues, it has been a wildly hectic week at Pepper’s, according to Haidar—full of scheduling staff shifts, ordering food and supplies, and getting everything ready for opening day - which could come as early as May 31.

To help restaurants, Sebastopol opens public spaces for outdoor dining

Most restaurants in west county have been eking out a living doing take-out since they were forced to close on March 17 to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. But like the rest of the county, restaurants are opening up. On May 22, a county health order allowed restaurants to resume outdoor dining. On June 4, the county announced that restaurants could resume indoor dining as well.

Nearly 8,000 of the area’s vineyard and wine production workers have been vaccinated

Sonoma County’s agriculture, wine and health communities have now vaccinated over 95% of the county’s essential vineyard and wine production workers, according to a press release published by the Sonoma County Winegrowers.

County pension debt subject of new Superior Court lawsuit

Few issues are as complex — or the numbers bigger — than the critical status of the County of Sonoma’s pension plan that lacks as much as $831 million to fund current and future retiree payments.
