Sebastopol Rotary, Interact clubs collect 500 pounds of trash

The Rotary Club of Sebastopol, the Rotary Club of Sebastopol Sunrise and the West County High School (WCHS) Interact Club spent Nov. 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. picking up trash alongside High School Road from Eddie Lane to Occidental Road.

Washington School first quarter award winners

To help celebrate Cloverdale's local students, we'd like to recognize all of the kids from Washington Middle School who were named Student of the Month and Eagle Award Winner for the first quarter. 

Two items on organic waste reduction at Sebastopol City Council

Of the eight items to come before the Sebastopol City Council at their regular Nov. 16 meeting, two regard compliance with state organic waste reduction laws (SB 1383). The other six include developing objective design guidelines, pension liability refinancing and a redesign of the city website. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. and the full meeting agenda can be found here.

Following record October rains, Healdsburg downgrades water shortage plan

The city of Healdsburg is scaling back its water conservation measures from Stage 3 of the city’s water shortage contingency plan to Stage 2, which targets a 20% reduction in water usage citywide by prohibiting certain uses of water. It had previously been targeting a 40% reduction in water use.

Healdsburg school board reviewing ethnic studies course proposal

The Healdsburg Unified School District (HUSD) Board of Trustees has a busy agenda on tap for its next meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 17. The school board will swear in its new student trustee, Annie Petersen, and it will receive reports on the possibility of implementing ethnic studies throughout the HUSD and at Healdsburg High School.

Windsor teen continues ballet career at prestigious England school

For boys interested in a career in ballet dancing, good training programs, generally dominated by young girls, can be hard to find — even in the Bay Area. But Maximus Anderson, 14, of Windsor, was recently admitted into a prestigious ballet dancing academy in England where he can continue to advance in his training, with the help of his mother’s undying support.

Windsor Town Council discussing district elections and parklet extensions

At this week’s Windsor Town Council meeting, council members will hear the result of a highly-anticipated racial polarization study, formally extend the parklet program through two actions and authorize Mayor Sam Salmon or another designee to vote at an upcoming meeting of the Sonoma County Mayors’ and Councilmembers’ Association (SCMCA). The council meeting is being held on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m., and the full meeting agenda can be found here.
