‘Trash Trolls’ provide free garbage collection services to unhoused people in west county
You don’t have to pay the troll toll to get on a highway in west county, but you can make a tax-deductible donation to the adventurous pair providing trash removal services for homeless people in the area.
Ferdinandson selected to head consolidated WSCUHSD high school
Current Analy High School Principal Shauna Ferdinandson was selected to head the high school that will be formed as a result of the consolidation of Analy and El Molino High School this fall. The West Sonoma County Union High School District (WSCUHSD) Board of Trustees announced the selection at its meeting on April 14.
La Familia Sana, Corazón Healdsburg partner to bring more resources to north county
La Familia Sana, a nonprofit located in Cloverdale, is growing its partnership with Corazón Healdsburg in hopes of bringing more resources to the area. In the past, both organizations have helped one another when it comes to helping families — whether it was with housing supplies, food or COVID-19 tests, a partnership was already there.
Treasures: A new museum exhibit
Healdsburg Museum and Historical Society’s first exhibition of the year runs until May 28, and showcases the range of the museum’s collection. Highlights include Southern Pomo and Western Wappo baskets, paintings of Alice Haigh Dixon (who also was the 1896 Healdsburg Floral Festival Queen), a hooked rug created by Grace Hudson, the original Healdsburg plat map, a ball and chain used in Healdsburg’s first jail, vintage prune tending, kitchen and laundry tools, fashions of the 1860s to the 1960s and items of Pomo, rancho and pioneer history.
One dead in collision near Healdsburg
A five-car accident that occurred yesterday afternoon at southbound U.S. Highway 101 and Old Redwood Highway/Healdsburg Avenue exit just south of Healdsburg has left one person dead and others with minor to moderate injuries, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) Public Information Officer David deRutte.
