Jefferson Elementary teachers and staff drove around Cloverdale for a parade Wednesday morning, June 3. The car parade was a sunny-day sendoff for Jefferson students, who start summer break this week.Â
Remembering the fallen
Memorial Day and Veterans Day can often seem interchangeable. Both days are marked by solemn reflection on the service of military members. The main difference in my life has been usually that I got Memorial Day off, but never Veterans Day. Â
Fundraiser raises over $500,000 for Corazón Healdsburg
Over $500,000 was raised on Saturday, July 17, at Corazón Healdsburg’s annual Event of the Heart fundraiser. The fundraiser was held at the newly built Bacchus Landing event venue in Healdsburg.

The calendar wasn’t exactly bursting with big events and gatherings in 2021, but west county managed more than a few special occasions and bad breaks alike during the second year of the pandemic.Â
Registration deadline nearing for Occidental, Timber Cove elections
The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 2 Consolidated Election is Oct. 18. The election only applies to some voters — for west county, this means voters in the Occidental Community Services District and the Timber Cove County Water District.
Nuestra Comunidad programs seek to promote emergency preparedness, self love and community healing
In 2021, Nuestra Comunidad danced non-stop. In 2022, it looks to continue to promote body movement and self-love but also new programs dedicated to teenagers. The northern Sonoma County nonprofit was founded to help the community prepare for emergency situations, but has actively worked to introduce other programs focusing on personal wellness as well. All of them lead to having a sense of community in the Latinx population.
Hopmonk lays off 40 employees in Sebastopol
Due to the new stay-at-home order and the closure of outdoor dining, Hopmonk Tavern announced today, Saturday, Dec. 12, that it is laying off 122 employees from its four locations, including 40 from the Sebastopol tavern.
