Reflecting on the ongoing national debate over the influx of immigrant children from Central America, columnist and political commentator, George Will, who will never be mistaken as a bleeding heart liberal, said on Fox News Sunday, “We ought to say to these children, ‘Welcome to America. You’re going to go to school and get a job and become American. We have 3,141 counties in this country. That would be 20 per county. The idea that we can’t assimilate these eight-year-old criminals with their teddy bears is preposterous.’”

Sonoma County to remain in the purple tier

On Nov. 11, the County of Sonoma submitted a request for tier adjudication with the state of California, adding thousands of COVID-19 tests from commercial labs that had not been entered electronically into the state’s tracking system with the hope that the tests would lower the county’s case rate and test positivity rate and would allow the county to move tiers.

Oktoberfest heading to Citrus Fair this Saturday

Cloverdale’s annual Oktoberfest celebration is switching locations but continuing on this year. The event will be held at the Cloverdale Citrus Fair from noon to 6 p.m on Saturday, Oct. 2.
