West county schools working on COVID safety plans
Some west county school districts are positioning to invite elementary and some middle schoolers back for in-person learning now that Sonoma County’s adjusted daily case rate has eased to below 25 per 100,000 residents for five days straight, signaled in a Feb. 10 joint press release from the county and Sonoma County Office of Education.

Windsor Town Council requests Civil Grand Jury action to remove Foppoli
In a statement dated May 6, the Town Council of Windsor announced it has formally requested that the Sonoma County District Attorney authorize grand jury proceedings against at-large Mayor Dominic Foppoli due to his “willful or corrupt misconduct in office” related to sexual assault allegations made by several women.
PreK-TK, senior projects and the Facilities Master Plan on Jan. 20 WUSD agenda
In their first meeting of the new year Jan. 20, the Windsor Unified School District (WUSD) Board of Trustees will hear about marketing its recently announced expanded PreK-TK program, decide whether to add a senior project to graduation requirements (except for students on independent study) and likely select an architectural firm to conduct its Facilities Master Plan update.
Windsor council slated to set date for special election
At their regular meeting Aug. 4, the Windsor Town Council is expected to pass two resolutions that will leave both filling a vacant council seat by a special election next year and modifying the mayoral selection process to the voters by special election on Nov. 2. The council will also continue the first reading of a more restrictive update to the town’s tobacco retailer license ordinance, taking into consideration complaints from business owners.
Police department proposes reallocation of funds for community equity team
With unanimous support from the Healdsburg city council, the Healdsburg Police Department is going to pursue a major police department reorganization and reallocation of funds in order to create a community equity team with a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and an officer. The goal of the program is to improve community outreach, specifically within marginalized communities and to create a police culture centered around equity and fairness.
