Mothers struggle to return to work as California reopens

Before the pandemic, Patricia Gutierrez would drop her 8-year-old autistic son off at school in San Jose and her 4-year-old son off at day care every morning. After her mother, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, was picked up and shuttled to a senior center, Gutierrez would drive to work as a licensed vocational nurse at a school for special needs students.

Measure DD appears to be passing by a wide margin

With 72.9% of precincts reporting, Measure DD, the extension of the Sonoma County Transportation Authority Sales Tax, appears to be cruising to an easy victory, with 139,487 (71.97%) yes votes and 54,335 (28.03%) no votes.

Local yoga and fitness centers go online

Some local services — like therapy — moved easily online after the COVID-19 epidemic hit. Others — like massage or spa businesses — have temporarily closed up shop. Fitness clubs and yoga studios might seem to fall in the latter category – what with all the exercise equipment and hands-on coaching — but that hasn’t been the case.

Update: 3:30 p.m.: The town released a statement on social media stating it was aware of the reports that Foppoli had resigned but that the town had not yet received the word officially from Foppoli. It adds they are attempting to contact him to confirm the resignation and the effective date.
