Barbara Recchia, survivor and race founder, continues the cause with Barb’s Tri

Before the pandemic, Patricia Gutierrez would drop her 8-year-old autistic son off at school in San Jose and her 4-year-old son off at day care every morning. After her mother, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, was picked up and shuttled to a senior center, Gutierrez would drive to work as a licensed vocational nurse at a school for special needs students.

With 72.9% of precincts reporting, Measure DD, the extension of the Sonoma County Transportation Authority Sales Tax, appears to be cruising to an easy victory, with 139,487 (71.97%) yes votes and 54,335 (28.03%) no votes.

Some local services — like therapy — moved easily online after the COVID-19 epidemic hit. Others — like massage or spa businesses — have temporarily closed up shop. Fitness clubs and yoga studios might seem to fall in the latter category – what with all the exercise equipment and hands-on coaching — but that hasn’t been the case.

UPDATE: Due to the coronavirus outbreak, Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival has been postponed. 

Update: 3:30 p.m.: The town released a statement on social media stating it was aware of the reports that Foppoli had resigned but that the town had not yet received the word officially from Foppoli. It adds they are attempting to contact him to confirm the resignation and the effective date. 

As day two of the revelations concerning Windsor Mayor Dominic Foppoli began, more organizations and individuals were distancing themselves from Foppoli.

The Windsor Unified School District (WUSD) is holding a special meeting Tuesday night, Jan. 26, to discuss graduation requirements for this year’s seniors.

The June 16 meeting of the Windsor Town Council has an agenda full of housekeeping and budgets, as well as discussions about future disasters and planning.
