Small Shiloh blaze
A small fire broke out on the northbound side of Highway 101, between the Airport Boulevard and Shiloh Road exits on Sunday, July 12 around 5 p.m. The fire burned a patch of grass along the roadside and encroached into an adjoining vineyard. The fire was under control in about 25 minutes and fully cleaned up in another 30 minutes.

County placed on monitoring list due to rising virus cases
Sonoma County was added to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s coronavirus county watchlist Friday, July 10, joining 29 other counties in the state, according to the county’s health officer, Dr. Sundari Mase. Being placed on the watchlist is one of the first steps in a series of actions that could have certain businesses in the county shutting back down in as soon as three days, should case numbers not improve.
Celebrating the art that heals
The Sebastopol Center for the Arts and the Poet Laureate Selection Committee hosted a virtual reception on July 12 to honor Sonoma County's newest poet laureates. The event honored the outgoing county poet laureate, Maya Khosla, and celebrate the incoming laureate Phyllis Meshulam and youth poet laureate Zoya Ahmed.
Young songwriters, musicians take top spots in Sebastopol youth talent show
Instead of getting the “show on the road” and performing in-person this year for the Sebastopol Community Cultural Center Youth Talent Show, talented locals brought the show to the online sphere of YouTube. The four top winners of the annual talent show were first place winner Alina Peterson, second place winner Finley Rhodes and tying for third place, Emily Russell and Violet Skye Wright.
