Acre Pizza opens in the Barlow this week

Acre Coffee is opening a new café, Acre Pizza, in the storefront formerly occupied by Village Bakery in the Barlow. The café, which will offer pizza by the slice and in 16-inch rounds, as well as salads, is the newest venture by Acre Coffee owners Steve Decosse and Sharon Fitzgerald.

Council members mull over future use of Cerri site, city properties

At a special council work session on Jan. 21 at a packed city hall, Healdsburg City Council expressed mixed feelings on what proposal to consider for the development of the Cerri site at 3 North Street. Among the options is one from the Foley family, which has pledged $7 million for the creation of a community event and farmers market space, an idea that has received overwhelming support from Healdsburg residents.

New director at the West County Museum

The West Sonoma County Historical Society has appointed Donna Pittman as the new director of the West County Museum in Sebastopol. She is taking over from Interim Director Gloria Roberts.

16-year-old boy arrested for months-long vandalism streak

On Monday, Nov. 11, Sebastopol Police were called for a report of vandalism. The suspect had tagged the letters “PEAK” and “KKS” in a public bathroom. The tags were unique in both style and content.

High schools adopt new AP Diploma

At the West Sonoma County Union High School District (WSCUSD) board meeting on Jan. 22, the district board unanimously approved a new Advanced Placement (AP) program called the AP Capstone Diploma program, which teaches college-level research skills, as well as collaboration and communication.

Army Corp of Engineers say bridge called into question is sound

The pedestrian bridge at the Warm Springs Dam at the Lake Sonoma Visitor’s Center and hatchery is a heavily trafficked and popular place for folks who want to take in the sites or get a glimpse of fish, and while the old bridge seems to have a sag, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers San Francisco Division says the bridge is sound.
