County septic policy meeting Oct. 10 at Villa
The County of Sonoma is updating regulations for septic systems in order to meet state mandates that protect water quality and public health. Permit Sonoma invites the public to attend upcoming community meetings to share feedback on the proposed Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) Manual.
Sonoma State fraternity banned from campus for five years
On Nov. 20, Sonoma State University was notified of alleged hazing activities that occurred at an informal chapter event of Tau Kappa Epsilon. SSU’s Office of Student Conduct and the TKE International Office conducted a joint investigation of these allegations. As a result of the investigation, it was affirmed that hazing did occur in the form of paddling and intimidation.
Healdsburg District Hospital on the path to new ownership
After years of searching and negotiating to find a strategic partner, the board of directors that oversee the Healdsburg District Hospital this week voted to go forward with final agreements with NorCal Health Connect, an affiliate of Providence St. Joseph Health. Pending a vote by the taxpayer-owners of the Northern Sonoma County Healthcare District (NSCHD) in November, ownership and management of the hospital will change and be final.
Sonoma County Issues Air Quality Health Advisory
On Tuesday, the office of the Sonoma County Health Officer issued a health advisory as smoky air from the Point Fire near Lake Sonoma continued to cover parts of the county.
