SLIDESHOW: Small town, big lights at the Geyserville Tractor Parade

The town of Geyserville grew by more than 4,000 people the Saturday after Thanksgiving when the annual Tree Lighting and Tractor Parade rumbled down its main street. The small community celebration that started in 2010 has exploded in popularity and this year featured 40 official entries, plus a visit from Santa Claus and State Senator Mike McGuire. The parade is sponsored by the Geyserville Chamber of Commerce, local merchants and the Geyserville Volunteer Fire Association.

SLIDESHOW: Santa sightings at the Healdsburg Museum

Anyone seeking added inspiration to get in the holiday mood should visit the "Season for Santas" toy exhibit at the Healdsburg Museum which opened Friday, Nov. 23. The display features more than 100 Santas from Steve and Judy Everett's collection, as well as the return of Wayne Padd's Lionel model train and carnival train village. Santas of all sizes and character motifs can be viewed including a Home Simpson Santa. The museum is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m Wednesdays to Sundays and admission is free.

Respite program offers care for seniors and a break for caregivers

After her husband’s extensive back surgery, Jeanette Zwinger noticed he was starting to act differently. Her husband Richard, an avid flying enthusiast and former Air Force member who lived life with a sense of adventure, began to show cognitive decline after suffering a heart attack a few days after his back surgery. Richard’s “on-the-go, onto-the-next-thing” personality had declined almost into a state of delirium, and his wife was unsure of how she could continue caring for him.
