Local human rights commissioner sees similar warning signs

The Healdsburg Unified School District (HUSD) Board of Trustees will receive a COVID-19 update and will review the high school and Marce Becerra Academy school plans for student achievement at their next school board meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 19.

Bill Wheeler, the painter of open spaces and advocate of open living at his coastal commune, died early Tuesday morning at his remote Occidental-area home. It was the same home that was made famous by a flock of hippies searching to find freedom by living off the land exactly 50 years ago.

For Californians who are insufficiently compelled by civic duty and self-preservation to get vaccinated, Gov. Gavin Newsom is offering another reason to get the jab: cold, hard cash.

A slow rolling line of a dozen colorful-lighted cars and trucks followed a Sebastopol fire truck through the streets and neighborhoods of Sebastopol on a rainy pre-Christmas evening on Dec. 16, adding some holiday spirit to the dark street scenes where dozens of people turned out in their driveways and sidewalks to cheer and photograph the parade that included the big old guy himself in his red and white suit and fluffy white beard. Sebastopol resident Lori Jay organized the activity with the help of some of her neighbors and family members.
