Measure B forum talks tourism versus services and schools
The Sonoma County League of Women Voters hosted a forum devoted to discussing the pros and cons of the two measures on the ballot for west county voters in March. The first, Measure A, asks voters to approve a $48 parcel tax for West Sonoma County Union High School District (WSCUHSD) and the other, Measure B, asks voters to approve a 4% increase to west county’s transient occupancy tax for hotels and short-term rentals to help support west county schools and fire districts.

Ward’s death ruled a homicide, family files wrongful death suit
On Tuesday, May 19, an attorney for the mother of David Glen Ward, the 52-year-old man who died in a bizarre interaction with sheriff’s deputies at the end of December, has filed suit against the two sheriff’s deputies involved, a Sebastopol police officer who was on the scene, the county of Sonoma and Sonoma County Sheriff Mark Essick.
Kids parade, fireworks in store for the Fourth
This Saturday, July 4, Healdsburg will offer family activities from dawn to dusk, beginning with an early morning pancake breakfast and concluding with a half hour of fireworks after the sun goes down.
City Report: Council Meeting of Feb. 17
At its February 17, 2026 meeting, the Healdsburg City Council issued a proclamation acknowledging Black History Month. After reading the proclamation, Vice Mayor Ron Edwards shared his reflections on the recent death of Civil Rights icon Jesse Jackson, referencing Jackson’s message to Black Americans, to remember that “I Am Somebody!”
