‘Hustley, bustley and wonderful:’ The Sebastopol Area Senior Center hosts first in-person lunch
On a warm and bright Friday morning, all the windows in the Sebastopol Area Senior Center’s dining room were open, and brightly colored lanterns hung from the ceiling. Patrons sat at tables of four, their conversations underscored by gentle music from the traditional Appalachian guitar player who sat in the corner. It was the center’s first in-person communal lunch since the pandemic set in 16 months ago, and west county’s senior community had been eagerly waiting to be back in the sunlight and fresh air, sharing a meal together.

A 30-year-old (YO) man was stopped for lacking properly displayed license plates near Otoro Sushi on Healdsburg Avenue. He was cited and released for driving with a license and an open container of soy sauce.
Schools close throughout county, maybe for a long time
Based on a March 14 joint recommendation from the Sonoma County Health Department and the Sonoma County Department of Education, schools and school districts across the county announced over the weekend that they have suspended in-person classes.

City’s newest lieutenant rose through ranks
Healdsburg’s newest police lieutenant, Matt Jenkins, 31, was promoted in early December. Jenkins was raised up from patrol sergeant after serving with the Healdsburg Police Department as an officer since May 2003. He celebrated his 10th anniversary on the force just last week.

The Rotary Club of Sebastopol Sunrise, The Rotary Club of Sebastopol, the Sebastopol Center for the Arts and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 3919 are joining forces to deliver holiday groceries to those in need this holiday season.Â
Welcome gifts
Last week, Jefferson Elementary students got a surprise gift, courtesy of Parkside Christian Chapel. After receiving a donation of Bombas socks, Parkside donated a pair of socks to every student at Jefferson, along with a Rice Krispie Treat and Nutri-Grain bar. Students trickled in to Jefferson last week to pick up individual wrapped packages with socks and snacks.
