In early February, about the time vote-by-mail ballots began arriving at registered voters’ homes, political mailers began appearing as well—glossy, eye-catching, attention-grabbing, oversized postcards. Most promoted their candidate of choice, but some erupted into hit advertising through direct mail and targeted video.
