At the Windsor Unified School District Board of Trustees budget workshop on June 2 the board approved some cuts, but the most painful decisions were put off for a last-minute decision to allow the board more time to gather information.
Cali teacher is Teacher of the Month
According to an announcement from the Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE), Pedro De Luna, a first-grade teacher at Cali Calmecac Language Academy in the Windsor Unified School District, has been named Sonoma County Teacher of the Month for February 2021.
Council calls for redo on Jaguar Way project
After more than a year of planning, and 15 years of consideration, the Windsor Town Council reversed course and voted against the extension of Jaguar Way. The project would have made a through way from Windsor Road to Starr Road, and would have featured two lanes of car travel, bike lanes and pedestrian paths. The plan now is to investigate installing just a bike and pedestrian pathway connecting the two roads.
Commentary: Cultivating cannabis in Sonoma County
The Sonoma County Supervisors are considering an update to the county cannabis cultivation ordinance. It would allow for ministerial permits for cultivation through the agricultural commissioner, if one qualifies, instead of a 3-5-year public hearing process. Staff has come up with very restrictive policy, and documented no significant environmental impacts due to the limited amount of potential available acreage.
